New reports indicate that the Surface Phone will be targeted towards the business sector. Microsoft Corp. (NaSDaQ:MSFT) is expected to unveil the company’s latest flagship smartphone, the Surface Phone early next year and there are plenty of rumors circulating about the features the new device will sport. according to recent reports, the new flagship device from Microsoft is expected to feature top-notch specs and will be targeted towards the business sector. Microsoft recently sold off its Nokia feature phone business as the company failed to establish a footprint in the ever evolving smartphone market. With the new Surface Phone, the company expects to make an impact in a market dominated by the likes of apple Inc. (NaSDaQ:aaPL) and Samsung.

Microsoft also introduced the company’s latest Windows 10 Mobile OS with the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. However, Windows 10 Mobile OS was plagued with software issues and there were hardware problems found on the Microsoft flagships because of which Microsoft failed to reel in users. The company however stated that even though it will not be releasing any new smartphones, it will continue to update and provide support for Windows 10 Mobile users. The company also stated that it will be releasing a Windows 10 Mobile update in the near future.

according to a new report by The Register, the Corporate VP of Windows Kevin Gallo has said that the company is building a new smartphone that will be targeted towards the enterprise sector, where Microsoft products are already used in abundance. He also stated that the company will be releasing a new device that will carry the Surface branding, as the company looks to compliment the Surface Pro tablets with a new smartphone

Reports indicate that the Surface Phone will be offered in three different variants, as the company looks to target the consumer, prosumer and enterprise markets. The enterprise variant is expected to feature 8GB of RaM, the latest Qualcomm Inc. (NaSDaQ:QCOM) Snapdragon 830 chipset and 512GB of built in storage. There are also reports that the new device will feature a QWERTY keyboard and will be similar in design to the Surface Pro tablets.
